I need a browser that enhances my productivity, not one that tempts me to stay up to date with every last Tweet

Productivity @ Home: Is Flock a Productivity Killer?

If you want to use Flock for work, but without constant notifications of new Facebook updates/Twitter tweets/etc, you could set up a second Flock user profile. In your second profile you wouldn’t login to Facebook/Twitter, and so you could continue using Flock without some of the distractions. If you have business-related RSS feeds that you follow, you could track them in your “business” Flock user profile without seeing updates for less serious feeds that you follow.

Downsides to Multiple Profiles
You can only have the browser open/working with one profile at a time. If you have a bunch of tabs open for business activities, and feel the need to veg out a bit by checking on tweets, you could not switch to the other profile without closing the browser first. To work around this, you could bookmark your tabs, switch to your “personal” profile, and open the tabs again when you resume.

By following RSS feeds in two versions of Flock, you probably won’t want to track the same feed in both profiles, because when you mark articles as read in one profile, it will still appear as unread/new in the other profile. Using an online RSS reader (Google reader, for instance) would solve this problem in that you can access it and read feeds from both profiles.

I personally use both Flock and Firefox at home (and IE for checking work email), and Firefox at work.

E Ink Corporation | Products | Display Cells

This makes it possible for Lexar to add the benefit of an exterior gauge, without sacrificing the light, durable and portable design of its products.”

E Ink, the company producing the display for Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader, produces the capacity meter on Lexar’s new JumpDrive Mercury line. I have one of these USB drives at work but haven’t used it extensively. The one thing that annoys me with the USB drive is the cover — because of how thin the drive is, I tend to twist the drive when I open it, and feel like I might break the cap.  That said, it’s still a nifty thumb drive.

What have we learned from all this?

I watch the game, the Red Sox score.

That’s some causation right there for ya.

Also, Yahoo! Shortcuts are pretty cool.  A search for “red sox” on Yahoo! showed the score in real-time on the search results page, with a link to more information with more information on the team, game, and a link to real-time game data.  Neat stuff.

In a bid to curb the increase in drivers who drive at excessive speeds and in a way which causes alarm and distress to other road users, Sussex Police have drafted in a number of different unmarked, high-performance vehicles that are able to deter a hardcore of motorists who insist on putting people’s lives at risks.

Two things are cool about this article:

1. Police are getting more sophisticated with undercover patrol cars.  I’ve seen a little of this on US highways, but not to the extent of this Sussex effort.
2. The story can be read to you in a delightful British accent, courtesy of the Talklets player on the page.  This seems like a great accessibility feature, and worked well on the article when I used it.

Three hours in the ER later, and I learned that I had fractured the tip of my middle finger.  Fun.

Fast forward two weeks to the follow-up appointment.

While filling in medical information at the orthopedic hand surgeon’s office, I noticed a note on one of the forms, which read (paraphrased):

How awesome is that?  No picture, unfortunately, but I’ll try to get one when I return to their office.
